Deep Fried-Day News Nuggets

Orphan Black, the new BBC America original series about a woman who discovers she is just one of many doppelgangers, has been renewed for a second season. Good, maybe I will have time to catch up with the story before it ends.

Bryan Fuller (Wonderfalls, Dead LIke Me) is pitching a zombie-focused Pushing Daisies film. Go to Kickstarter to help get this thing off the ground because the writer’s strike killed it before its time. Let’s raise this show up from the dead and bring it back as a movie.

In related Bryan Fuller news, he is also inexplicably adapting Hannibal Lecter for a television audience. I am not sure how to feel about that one. It is currently titled Hannibal.

Russell T. Davies (Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures) is bringing his Wizards VS. Aliens show to the US via The Hub channel.

Star Trek: Into Darkness had its London premiere.

Speaking of films co-starring, Zoe Saldana, she and Dave Bautista have been confirmed  to star in Guardians of the Galaxy.

In case you missed it, this video of Wil Wheaton speaking to the unborn child of a nerd woman at Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo went viral this week.

Last night, Bob Newhart guested on The Big Bang Theory, so check it out on line if you missed it. I missed half of it and am kicking myself. But, I will remedy that situation. From what I saw and as you can see here, it was hilarious. Did you expect anything less?

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming, new film, Interstellar could possibly gain star Jessica Chastain. Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway have already been confirmed for the film.

And lastly, even though it isn’t Sci Fi, I am including a nugget about Downton Abbey as I totally geek out over that show. They have announced that they will be introducing a new character who is a jazz singer and the first black character for the show.
